Hi!
I'm Yasmine, a freelance journalist with a love for all things entertainment and culture.
I am currently freelancing for HUNGER Magazine interviewing musicians and actors including three cover stories.
I'm an MA Magazine Journalism graduate from City St George's, University of London, currently based in the UK. I write about music, film, TV, and culture, with a particular interest in profile writing and long-form features. My work includes three cover stories for Hunger Magazine, where I interviewed Lamar Johnson, Sasha Keable, and Ella Mai. I'm passionate about telling stories centred on Muslim women, diaspora communities, and underrepresented voices, exploring themes of identity, belonging, and contemporary culture. My work also includes Whitewashed Modesty, which I co-wrote for XCity Magazine, examining the lack of Muslim women in fashion journalism. For my MA final project, I investigated how the rise of radical male influencers shapes attitudes among young Muslim men and how this, in turn, impacts Muslim women. Alongside my journalism, I have a strong interest in editorial design and visual storytelling. I was the Art Director of The Split, a student-led digital magazine, where I created the publication's visual identity and website. I also completed an internship with the Art Desk at Hearst, working across Women's Health and Men's Health and gaining experience in magazine design and editorial production.
